About this site
What this site is for
We have finally got around to creating this site to primarily share our thoughts and experiences while we’re away from Australia (and now that we’re home).
The whole experience of moving away, settling in, working, meeting new people and travelling around Europe covers more than we can hope to include in Facebook posts, emails or postcards (or even Tweets). So our aim is to take a bit more time to talk about things that happen during this adventure.
Hopefully, you can see the site taking shape with:
What this site is not for
Twitter and Facebook to be great places to share with people who have similar interests. However, sometimes those groups of people don’t intersect, particularly when it comes to politics.
So for now this site doesn’t discuss politics, current affairs, funny things from the Internet or the million other things that can grab our attention during a day. If you’re interested in what we think of those things, follow us on:

About Juliane
Some basic information about me:
- Born
- Canberra, Australia.
- Grew up
- No exciting childhood cities. Just Canberra - always on the right side (south of the lake).
- School
- Torrens Primary, St Peter and Paul Garran, St Clare's College, University of Canberra, University of Sydney
- Work
- I'm a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner. To find out more see my LinkedIn profile.
- Married
- Yep, still!
- Children
- Three, all grown up now.
- Grandchildren
- Three wonderful little boys.
- Pets
- Molly the wonder-dog. Neo the cat left home to live with our eldest son.
- Hobbies
- Travel, cardmaking and spending time with the wonderful little boys.
- Religion
- Been there, done that. I don't have time for religions that are based on guilt and fear of repercussion. I wouldn't have met Anura without attending church many years ago but have moved on and now just believe in kindness, compassion and others' right to believe what they want.
- Politics
- I'm interested, I have opinions, but there are several politicians and viewpoints I can't stand, so it's probably best not to talk about it. Let's just say I'm pro-refugees, pro-gay marriage, pro-equal rights, anti-death penalty, pro-women's right to choose abortion (which does not mean I would have considered having one) and anti-conservative. I also believe in global warming. I haven't yet decided what I really think about euthanasia or voluntary assisted dying.
